Voyurl is a startup social thingy with a weird pitch: you sign up with the service and install a tool in your browser that takes your "clickstream" -- i.e., everything you look at in your browser -- and streams it live, in real-time, in public. In return, you get to look over the shoulders of other people who have elected to share their clickstreams in the same way.

It's Hard To Tell If Voyurl Or Their Ads Are Creepier
July 30, 2010
MG Siegler
A few weeks ago, we were alerted to a new site currently in stealth mode called Voyurl. As the name implies, the idea behind it is to make it so you can see what other people are looking at on the web (and to make your clickstream seen). It sounds creepy as hell. It’s like Blippy but with more potential porn. I love it.

It was back in July of last year that we first wrote about a service called Voyurl with the headline: It’s Hard To Tell If Voyurl Or Their Ads Are Creepier. You see, at the time, the still-in-stealth startup was targeting angel investors via Google ads get their attention to hopefully talk about their product. That’s actually pretty smart.

To be honest, the first time I used Voyurl it scared the shit out of me. I’m not much of a technology adopter, and the speed at which things were happening freaked me out. Now, I am afraid no more. Voyurl is like the ultimate web feed, where you can watch what other people are looking at in real time.

Voyurl – The Slightly Creepy Stepchild of Delicious
February 3, 2011
Erin Jo Richey
First thing first, I love Delicious. I’ve saved selected links on the bookmarking site every day for years, building up a collection of wonderful things that I rarely, if ever, go back to look at. What I’m really doing here is hoarding information. Before Delicious, I saved a lot of bookmarks in my browser. It took time to keep things organized and categorized, but information management is important.

Voyurl lets you watch what your friends surf
February 10, 2011
Ben Kunz
Killer concept. Instead of trying to create yet another social portal, Voyurl allows you to watch what your friends are surfing online. It's in the beta-concept stage now, teasing interested parties on Twitter with requests to DM them for invites to sign up ... you know, the hipster early adopters will opt-in, bring their friends, and hopefully create Quora-like buzz.

Marshall McLuhan’s famous aphorism 'the medium is the message' highlights the communication effect of the medium itself, which our brains filter out, rendering the wrapper invisible. McLuhan understood a medium to be an extension of the senses, but increasingly our location can be understood as a medium – a channel that can be used to communicate and contextualise.
